I am loving this pattern...can you believe it's the patter of a bathing suit over at Lands' End??

I am also digging this Lands' End tote, not that I need another one! It is on sale for $21.99. Hmmm...

And last but not least, this cover-up is pretty cute. I have this same one in solid blue and can attest, it's really comfortable and cute!

Since it's practically summer year-round here in the British Virgin Islands, I'm hoping to take advantage of the late summer sales.

Birthday in the BVI

Unlike the Highballs and Hydrangeas - the theme of last year's birthday celebration - this year was more like Brut and Bougainvillea in the BVI. The champagne flowed and the bright pinks and purples of the blooming bougainvillea made for a colorful backdrop.

Despite being away from family and old friends, my first birthday in the BVI was splendid actually. I did a recap over on my other blog, OurBVIAdventure.

Mr. SDP is such a sweetheart and went to great lengths to make sure it was special! Great lengths included a day at the spa on a nearby private island!

Are you reading Moggit??? If not, you need to start. These hilarious and snarky bloggers are to interior design what Go Fug Yourself is to celebrity fashion.

And these girls are making waves! They recently tweeted Nate Berkus, product of Oprah, you know the one. Well, he's about to have his own television show, as I'm sure you read here and here. The girls at the Mogg Blog told him he should do a show about interior design blogs! He responded and the show is now in the works! HUGE, right???

Blogs everywhere are talking about Nate and the show, all because of Moggit! Mrs. Limestone has a long list of bloggers who are taking part in what is being dubbed as "Nate Day!"

His show premiers in September. Can't wait!

Tiny Chairs

Mrs. Limestone recently did a recap of Brooklyn's Renegade Craft Fair - her post was almost as good as being there in person...almost! She spotted these Colleen Heineman's chair necklaces - aren't they wonderful?

From left, they are "sitting pretty", "lawnchair", "kitchen chair" and "folding chair." I think my favorite is the kitchen chair...

Colleen also has a series of necklaces with nautical knot pendants, for the sailor in all of us.

Pillows with a Message

Where was Pottery Barn Teen when I was growing up? You don't necessarily have to have to be a teen to appreciate these bright and friendly pillows, do you?

Maybe it's living in the Caribbean, but I'm really drawn to these colors, even if they are designed for a less sophisticated audience. I could see them atop twin beds in a guest bedroom with all white linens.

For our living room here our house in the BVI, I made some pillows with a bit of a message. Leontine Linens was my inspiration for the turquoise and orange pillows...

And what house in the British Virgin Islands doesn't need a Jolly Roger?

The blue and white fabric is from a set of napkins. And the orange and white fabric is from Pottery Barn. I bought a pair of euro shams, and cut them up which yielded six pillows! (Only the front is orange and white - I used a thick navy linen for the reverse side.)

So, I've been blogging on and off for a little more than a year now, and while my posting may range from regular to sporadic, depending on the month (and the country for that matter!), my blog reading has been daily.

I think I've developed my first full-fledged blogger crush! Ha! No seriously, Caitlin is a talented interior designer, based in Utah. I've never met her, never even been to Utah! But after you read her blog, you feel like you know her. She would be one heck of a friend to go shopping with!

Caitlin has fresh ideas and she packages them so perfectly in her posts. She dishes about where she finds her deals and steals, and fills her posts with eye candy, photographing the shops she peruses for her latest project and photos of the rooms she's designed herself!

Did you know that's where Sex & The City 2 was filmed?

I thought for sure - with Abu Dhabi being the fifth character - the movie would actually be shot there! I first read of the location in US Weekly (May 31st version) and after further research, it totally makes sense. Even Dubai turned down SATC2's requests to film there, according to reports.

Regardless of where it was filmed, I really enjoyed the movie. The first SATC movie was going to be hard to top, but I thought the storyline held up. I loved that Miranda's character was put in a position to help Charlotte through her tough times and watching all that was the Samantha menopause meltdown was hilarious!

A few fashion trends that I will be taking from the movie...

Maxi dresses and more maxi dresses! I was worried this trend was only going to last a summer or two, but I think this movie will keep it around a bit longer.

Chunky necklaces and sparkly bangles. Love them!

A few trends that I will not be following...

The pants - all of them, especially the harem pants. I've worn them once in my life and that was back in 1993 when I played Jasmine in my school's production of the musical, Aladdin.

Charlotte's suits/dresses that are straight out of Bette Midler's costume closet from Big Business.

I absolutely appreciated her outfits when I saw them on the big screen - I just knew it wasn't anything that I would be running out to get myself!

What scene made you laugh out loud? or squeal with delight? Carrie's closet? The four machbachs?

For me, it was the flashback scene and the Lilly Pulitzer sighting!!!

Nordstrom does New York

Nordstrom is opening it's discounted offspring, Nordstrom Rack in NYC proper. According to the NY Times article, this will be the first Nordstrom of any kind in Manhattan. Apparently, Nordstrom hasn't been able to find a space large enough for the regular department store, so Manhattanites will have to settles for deals and steals on high fashion.

I went to a Nordstrom Rack over the weekend on our trip to Ft. Lauderdale - there is one at Sawgrass Mills. It was great, but I have to say...between the Rack, Off 5th and Neiman's Last Call, Neiman's was my favorite. It had the best selection of dresses, which is admittedly my weakness.

I am loving this Rachel Roy dress that Mrs. O recently rocked on her recent tour of Mexico City.

It's just a cool $1,500 over at Bergdorf's. Thankfully, Rachel Roy isn't soley creating clothes for American royalty, like the First Lady. She had a much more affordable line of clothing, called Rachel.

Maybe I'll find a dress of hers on my shopping excursion in Florida! We leave tomorrow! Can't wait - getting a little island-feverish...

Many many thanks to Style Court for the heads up on Gadabout's new app for the iPhone!

I've blogged about Gadabout's smart stationery and personalized notecards, but who knew her work was going to be accessible on the iPhone??? And for only $0.99!

Here's a glimpse into how it works...

In just a matter of minutes, without a tutorial or anything of the sort, I created a few notes...

Once I selected the design - which had to be the toughest part because there were so many adorable designs - typed the message, placed, sized, and alignined the text, I was able to send this to a group of friends via email! What a lovely way to brighten up someone's inbox.

There are a bunch of other uses. Maybe create a quick invitation to a last-minute party? They have birthday themes, even a crab boil! Be still my heart!

Las Olas Bound

Mr. SDP and I are headed to Ft. Lauderdale in a week or two. He will be there on business and I get to tag along. I am so looking forward to this little trip, as I have not been back to the states since we moved to the BVI in December. As I've mentioned before, the shopping here leaves much to be desired and I'm showing symptoms of retail-withdrawal.

While I grew up in North Florida and have been to Ft. Lauderdale many times, I'm in need of some shopping advice. I'm planning on hitting Las Olas Boulevard, where many of the boutiques are located.

The Galleria is on my radar as well, but I'm wondering if there's anything else I'm missing.

I will definitely need an hour at a Sephora. I also need to stock up on hair products. {Pantene is about as "luxurious" as it gets here on the island.} But what I'm most excited about is shopping for clothes, clothes and more clothes. And shoes. How could I forget shoes?

Have you seen it yet??? The trailer for Sex & the City 2??? I'm sooooooooo looking forward to the release of this movie!!! I'm not sure if our movie theatre here on Tortola will have it on opening night, but I'm going to begin my lobbying now.

We do have a store called "Radio Doctor" that sells DVDs of new releases long before they're supposed to, but I would really like to see this moving in the theatre! I want to wear high heels and make sure my mascara is working overtime...

Echo revisited

I'm absolutely loving this beach towel, by Echo Design.

I love how Echo divides their product offerings with categories like: beach, rain, etc. Of course living in the British Virgin Islands means I head straight for the beach offerings. We need a few more beach towels, especially with all of the company we've been having.

Check out this really cute dress - I got it in green and turquoise. After organizing my closet tonight, I realized I don't have much green. A lot of orange, blue, black...

Speaking of green - I really like this purse. I don't really have a need for it. My off-white Lilly bag is serving me well.

Preppy Handbook Revisited!

Have you heard? Your copy of "The Official Preppy Handbook" will soon have some company on your bookshelf. Come September, "True Prep" co-authored by the one-and-only Lisa Birnbach and her new pal, Chip Kidd will be available for prep consumption, along with our Triscuits.

According to Motoko Rich, the NYTimes reporter who authored the article, "True Prep" will 'reignite preppy fervor.' I'm not sure it's possible to reignite something that still burns, is it?

On a personal note, The Official Preppy Handbook was the first gift I ever gave Mr. SDP. We had been dating just a few short weeks when he sent me the text "Sweet Dreams Preppy." I remember the feeling of delight when I found one single used copy in McKay's. It was the perfect book for us to read and re-read together that summer.

Check out this beauty from Stella & Dot! At $98, it's more expensive than its Target counterpart, but there's something very fresh here with the colors and the turquoise silk knotting.

Around My Neck

I have a wonderful sister. Her name is Whitney - she's the one who threw me the amazing Highballs & Hydrangeas 30th birthday party. She came to visit us in the BVI for her Spring Break. She knows how much I've been missing shopping, so she brought me a few things, including this necklace:

I love it!!! I almost fell on the floor when she told me where it was from! TARGET! I just couldn't believe it. I wore it the very next night and received numerous compliments on it. This is how the first conversation went:

Friend: "Oh, I just love that necklace. It is stunning!"
SDP: "Thanks! My sister gave it to me and you'll never believe where she got it??? Target!"
Friend: "No way! I thought you got it on St. Thomas. If I were you, I wouldn't give that little secret away - you can say it's a gift, but don't offer up where it's from...keep 'em guessing."

She makes a good point. I've even blogged about how I usually dodge the question "Where did you get that?" So, why did I offer it up so freely? I guess I was just overcome with excitement and proud of Whitney's find. My friend set me straight and for the rest of the night, I stopped after the "sister gave it to me" part.

I am loving this pendant, also in the Vintage Sea Life line at Target.

And for full disclosure, a friend of mine just bought it for me today and will be sending it with another friend who's coming down here in three weeks. {I know, I'm obsessed!}

You can't get too much of a good thing, right?

Chicken Nuggets Needs YOU!

One of my best friends Sarah recently started blogging over at 2 Giggle Boxes. She's not only an incredible mom to her two beautiful daughters Carson and Clara, but quite the seamstress, making custom creations for her girls! You have to see what she can do with one of her husband's old golf shirts!

Sarah finds inspiration for her children's clothing from fellow bloggers, like Lil Blue Boo. And in a design challenge - happening now at Lil Blue Boo and Dharma Trading - Sarah is a Top 15 Finalist and she needs your help.

As you southerners know, "Bless her heart" is what you say following the verbal recognition of another's unfortunate circumstances... Out of curiosity, I checked Urban Dictionary to see if they shared our definition and they do! Check it out:

"Bless her heart"
1: phrase used by Southern women to excuse themselves for speaking ill of someone else.

Okay, now that we're all in agreement, who's heart are we blessing?

Her name is Janell Wheeler and she's a contenstant on American Idol - a top 24 finalist in fact! Janell is one of my favorites, so it pains me to show you this photo of her first performance on the live show Tuesday night.

She is beautiful! Love that shirt! She looks great! That is, from the waist up. Don't get me wrong - her legs are amazing, but faux snake skin leggings? Look closely. They're not the most flattering, particularly in the crotch region... They look like something Steven Tyler would wear back when he was making love in an elevator.

They just looked like really really tight black skinny jeans. And goodness knows, you can rock some skinny jeans with those legs! Or maybe you'll go with a dress next time? Fashion Week in the Nude!

I imagine it's hard to keep your eyes on the runway when attending a fashion show at Bryant Park. (I'm imagining because this is something I've never done - but it's on the bucket list!)

There are really two fashion shows going on at once, aren't there? Of course, there are the models on the runway, but then there are the celebrities in the audience!

InStyle recently profiled the hottest celebrity trends from Fashion Week. Of the six they selected, I think this is the one I'm going to try...Layered Neutrals.

While life in the BVI doesn't necessary lend itself to thigh-high suede boots like the ones Ms. Zoe is rocking, I think I might be able to use an open-toe wedge to achieve the look.

This is such a departure for me because black is usually the predominant color in my wardrobe, and accents are usually bold colorful patterns.

I've been secretly mad a JCrew for all of their neutrals lately but maybe they were onto something...

Back to blogging on Sweet Dreams Preppy, that is! We're still living in the British Virgin Islands, and loving it. In fact, I started a blog when we moved here so our family and friends could join us on our adventure. But as with any blog, it can be enjoyed by anyone out there, and we've already experienced some of that.

It's OurBVIAdventure.blogspot.com if you're interested. So, this two-blog thing means that no longer am I anonymous here on SDP. I feel as though an re-introduction is now necessary, don't you? {Here's our moving announcement!}

Hello! My name is Amelia and I am the sweet dreaming preppy of SDP. I will still refer to my husband, Michael as Mr. SDP for consistency's sake.

While OurBVIAdventure is all about life in the islands, SDP will continue to focus on what's in my shopping cart, latest sewing projects, and musings from our new life here not quite fit for the "other" audience.

So, why the comeback? (As if I'm Brett Favre...) As you know it was Fashion Week last week and it just made me realize how much I miss the American shopping experience....how you watch what comes down the runway and then a few short months later, those trends pop up in the stores...stores, I might add that are not on the beautiful island of Tortola.

Living on an island doesn't mean that I'm completely unplugged, but not being able to SEE it, TOUCH it, FEEL it makes a difference. Bottom line: I'm having withdrawls. Not just from shopping but other things, so I'm reconnecting with SDP in an attempt to fill this void.

A heartfelt "thank you" to the many bloggers out there who share what inspires you on a daily basis...your words and photos mean more to me now than ever before!

We're home!!!

It's been about 24 hours since we landed in the British Virgin Islands . So far, I'm liking our new home .

My husband is working for a company headquartered here and they helped him find a villa a few weeks ago. It has the most amazing view of the Sir Francis Drake Channel. I'll have to snap a few photos. The wrap around screened in porch allows for the trade winds to sweep through the house, so much so that paperweights are a must!

Our 1,300 lbs of belongings are still in customs. I can't wait to get my hands on some of the items I brought to adorn the walls around here. This place most definitely needs a woman's touch. There will be three women here before too long.

My mom and sister are coming on Sunday, along with my dad. A Caribbean Christmas it will be!

My sister is actually bringing our miniature schnauzer Milly with her. We couldn't bring her on Monday, because her paperwork wasn't finalized. I can't wait to have her here and see her reaction to the new landscape.

During our first day here, we did a few very important things, including opening a bank account, buying a car, and for me - getting a pedicure! That's right, this Tennessee girl didn't have time to get one before she left!

I wanted to wear my Stephen Bonnanos today, and needed a matching nail polish. I went with OPI's "I only drink Champagne." Love that!

My lady at the spa was nice - her name was Breezy. That's right. Breezy. I quickly got past that and was able to ask her a lot of questions about who I should get to cut my hair, where to grocery shop, etc...All in all, it was a lovely way to spend my time while Mr. SDP was at the bank.

Let the BVI adventure begin!

Okay, I realize that's impossible, but if they were to come together and beget some type of offspring, who would it be?

I think her name would be Tracy Negoshian.

She's a beginner, but I see some potential. All of her tunics and dresses have a small credit card size pocket hidden on the right side, usually tucked under the arm at the rib cage - just perfect for a credit card, ID and maybe a lip gloss.

As she grows, hopefully her fabrics will improve and she will drop the ridiculous jewelry line. (It's like a chintzy version of Franchesca's.) I've got to give it to this girl - she started out with obvious color combinations that she knew would sell: SEC football teams.

Go to any SEC tailgate, I don't care if you're outside of the O'Connell Center in Gainesville, on top of G10 in Knoxville, or in the Grove in Oxford, you will hear one universal complaint from fashionable football fans: Finding stylish clothes in a girl's favorite SEC team colors is more difficult than getting Mariah Carey zipped into a black mini dress! Except of course for the Georgia Dawgs, those ~~bitches~~ I mean sweet Georgia peaches rock red and black like it's their job.

Happy Shopping! Oh, and I almost forgot - the aqua and coral Rachel dress will be making an appearance on the SDP Christmas card this year. What is more BVI than that?

Practical? Not so much...

I found these boots so irrestible - I just couldn't help myself. They were walking out of the store with me. No doubt about it!

Even though my flight to the British Virgin Islands is booked. And there's no turning back; we are officially moving there in less than a month, I just had to have these!!!

It's cold here in Tennessee and I'm loving the dress with tights and ankle boots look. These are Gianni Bini and I got them at Dillard's for $89.00. Not bad!

To even things out, and buy something "practical" {I'm sure Mr. SDP is getting a kick out of that word choice right now} I just had to get this handbag in preparation for our new warmer climate. Mine is in white, though I couldn't seem to find a photo of it.

I don't know that I've ever carried a Lilly Pulitzer, other than the fabric bermuda bags. And I must say, this tote is in a whole new league. The inside lining is of course in a fun Lilly print.

Oh, and am I the last one to know that Lilly sells wrapping paper? How cute is that? The pink Fa La Lilly is my favorite!

Talking Turkey

While we will be enjoying the traditional bird this Thanksgiving, I must share a recipe for a chicken dish that I discovered yesterday.

Our dear friends Erin and Lee had us over for dinner last night. {Mr. SDP and Lee were SigEps together in college. And while Erin and I went to different universities, we were both Alpha Delta Pis.}

Erin made the most delicious dish. The recipe is from a Nashville Junior League cookbook that was published in the 1950s. It's called "Chicken in the Skillet."

Here is the recipe for "Chicken in a Skillet"
{serves 8}

ingredients:
4 chicken breasts, cut into halves (or quarters)
1/2 cup flour
1 cup butter
1 can of mushroom soup
1 cup of sliced mushrooms
1/2 cup of slivered almonds
1 cup sherry

instructions:
dredge chicken in flour as for frying
place butter in skillet
heat
place chicken breasts in skillet and slightly brown
add remaining ingredients
simmer for 45 minutes to hour

Don't you just love the word "dredge"? I do and I know exactly what it means...love that!

A new book, called "The Carrie Diaries" {courtesy of Candace Bushnell of course!} will take us back in time before Miranda, Charlotte and Samantha, before cosmos, and that's right, before Big.

BVI Guest Bedroom, perhaps?

After having the first ever SDP Liquidation Sale {a.k.a. garage sale}, I decided to make the best of the items that didn't sell on Saturday. With a few cans of paint in "real orange", "seaside" blue, and "muslin" white, I transformed these items destined for Good Will into cool trendy pieces. What do you think?

I already had a duvet cover in the orange and white fabric from Pottery Barn. I actually used the shams that came with it to make 4 large pillows like the one you see in the photograph. A few months ago, I bought a quilt and matching shams in the blue ikat fabric for a steal at HomeGoods. Oh, and the blue pillow on the right is made from a set of napkins my mom gave me a few summers ago. Onto the painted items...

These little orange mirrors were previously greyish in color. Very drab! With one can of "real orange" high gloss paint, they are transformed!

Can you believe I had three others just like them that I let Mr. SDP take to Good Will? I had no idea they would turn out so adorable! Maybe I need to run over there on my lunch break on buy them back...The oval mirror had a nickel finish in its former life. I just love the Tiffany blue color.

As for the empty picture frame...I have big plans for it. I want to get some chicken wire or a old radiator grill to attach to the back, so I can use it for displaying jewelry. Can't you see some large chunky coral necklaces and earrings hanging from it?

I have three of those large blue and white vases. The tray used to be stained with a mahogony finish. I much prefer it in the "muslin" white, don't you?

Now if only we knew where we were going to be living on Tortola...for certain, there will be a guest bedroom!

Southern Living, while I still can...

With the countdown to the move to the BVI right at 4 weeks, I am getting nostalgic about Christmas and our family traditions here in the South. In addition to the holiday meal and trimming of the tree, I always pick a color scheme for my wrapping and all gifts are adorned in the same papers, bows, tags etc... For several years the Martha Stewart Wrapping Paper was my first choice. I haven't really been pleased with her selection these last two years, but I digress.

This year, we will be having a Caribbean Christmas, and I think I just found the perfect wrapping inspiration in Southern Living. I just received my December issue this weekend and on page 215 there they were! Zig zag tags in all their glory! {And we know how obsessed I am with anything and everything chevron! }

Aren't they just adorable?!? They can be yours for $6.00 over at Linda and Harriet. {There are three in a pack.} I am going to make my Christmas list and order accordingly. Rather than the crimson ribbon, I'm thinking of doing a pink one. I haven't really done the whole pink and green Christmas before...it can get a little Dr. Suess-like.

I have to say this Southern Living issue is full of surprises. There is a lovely little spread on pages 20 - 25 of 24 Christmas gifts made by southern hands.

I'm thinking a Christmas music channel on Pandora is a must at work tomorrow...

Game Night: NOLA Edition

Well, sort of.

You may remember some crazy stories about our game night group. We gather on the first Friday of the month. And back in August, we had a wild hair and headed to New Orleans for game night. {Living in Tennessee and all, you understand why it was such an ordeal, with flights and hotels and all...}

For November's game night, we're bringing New Orleans to us...in the way of the menu. I have made 24 mini muffelattas, prepped my beignets (Cafe Du Monde's mix of course!), and cooked the chicken for the jambalaya. That leaves the cajun crab dip, crawfish boulettes, and final prep of the jambalaya for tomorrow. I can manage that, surely.

Now, if only I knew what game we were going to play...any suggestions?

I know I've posted about how happy I was to see Isaac Mizrahi designing for the masses again, with his new gig at Liz Claiborne, but Isaac, we need to talk. Is this really what you think women need to be wearing this holiday season or ever for that matter? This size 0 model looks like she's about to give birth to a forest of Christmas trees.

I get it - you sketched it. Some suits in a boardroom probably thought it would sell, blah blah blah.

Seriously? I thought you were going to offer up affordable runway fashion for the every day woman not this crap! I realize this may sound harsh, but I'm disappointed. After that beautiful summer line, I was just hoping for more...

Even the "make the season bright" campaign features oatmeal sweaters. Apparently, the design department wasn't talking to the marketing department.

Thanks to Preppy Cricket and her recent post about her love for ribbon, my crafts will be much more organized!

As I've mentioned before, we are most likely moving to the BVI within the next 60 days. That means I've been decluttering the house and organizing as if it were my job! While I am fully capable of neatly packaging paint brushes, card stock, and glue, the yards and yards of ribbon leave me baffled! That is, until now....

Home Sweet Home: Part 4

It looks like a decision regarding our move to the British Virgin Islands is drawing near...we may be leaving "the South" and heading south toward the equator. {Technically, we'd stop just south of the Tropic of Cancer, but who here is a geographer? Not I!}

Our minds will be made up by week's end.

It's very surreal. If we choose to go, we would be selling our house and cars...changing careers...leaving family and friends behind...all before Christmas! It's equal parts sad and exciting, maybe with a dash of stressful!

The search for the perfect place to live in the BVI is underway. {Who knew they had Coldwell Banker?!?} We will need an extra bedroom for all of the company we expect we'll be having, plus I would really like to have a home office. I am going to try and work something out with my firm, at the very least as a freelancer. Mr. SDP will have his hands full with his new position...I just hope we have time to see each other and explore the islands together!

While tears well up in my eyes at the thought of missing my niece's birthday party or abandoning our Christmas traditions, the only thing that makes me okay with this move is the fact that we would likely be returning to the states in 12 months. I can do anything for 12 months right?

What an adventure this will be!

Off to declutter the house...the realtor is coming in the morning.

...and then you hear it later that same day? Or when you get a new car and then you spot 3 or 4 of the same model on your drive home? Well, something very similar happened to me today!

A friend of mine, who has a lovely home furnishings store, made this her status update on Facebook today: "Today - I will be happier than a bird with a french fry." I thought it was cute; it made me smile. {I also thought it might be nice to have french fries for lunch, but alas, I went with a bowl of soup instead. Sigh.}

Anyway, I was just over at Peonies and Polaroids a few moments ago and saw this:

Some might call this ironic - and if they did, I would correct them. It is coincidental! And I love it.

The Look for Less

Have you seen this dress? I absolutely love it.

Would you believe it's from Tar-jay? That's right. This frock is a mere $39.99 at your local Target! I spotted it on Sunday while running a quick errand. I slipped it on and it was love at first zip.

I rocked it at the office with my new black tights, {also from Tar-jay.} I'm a big fan of the ASSETS by Sara Blakely brand. They're $14.00 which is almost half of the cost of the dress, but they're worth it. They hold up well wash after wash.

Because there's a chill in the air, I wore a black cardigan and to emphasize my waist and break up the pattern, I wore a black patent leather belt. Both of those items are NY&Co which means they're very reasonably priced.

And for full disclosure, I wore Via Spiga black patent leather pumps. While they were from last season, they were my splurge item in the whole "look for less" operation.

I know it's a stretch, but if I had to say what the whole ensemble reminded me of, I would say this outfit from Sex and the City, the movie. Ah, Big. Can't wait to see you on the big screen again...Only a few more months...Sex and the City 2 will hit theatres May 2010, on the 28th to be exact. Can hardly wait!

I recently discovered another Etsy shop with some beautiful, delicate necklaces made of lace. The company's name is White Owl and it was founded by two sisters who have a love for all things vintage...particularly lace. {I have a soft spot in my heart for lace, as my wedding dress was made of lace.}

I think their pieces are rather stunning, don't you?What I found even more surprising was the price listed on White Owl's Etsy shop - the necklaces are only $28 or $29! Check out this one - can't you just see it worn with a strapless black dress?

The Red Baton

That's where Mr. SDP and I will be spending our Saturday night, watching the LSWho Tigers play the Florida Gators. It's a reunion of sorts...

Usually, my girlfriends from college (most of whom where Alpha Delta Pis at Florida) gather at a home game in Gainesville, but not this year. We are taking this party to New Orleans, and then Baton Rouge!

We fly out first thing Friday morning. I've got my outfits planned. My Luccheses will be making the trip. I realize packing cowboy boots in carry-on luggage may seem excessive to some, but I think they're worth it.

Now, you may remember, we were just in Louisiana a few months ago for our game night: NOLA edition. There was one place I didn't get to while on that trip: Leontine Linens. It will be a must-visit on Friday morning before we meet up with friends in the French Quarter.

I was just perusing the new line of linens over at Leontine, and was pleasantly surprised by the Jolly Roger bedding. Would it not be adorable for a little boy's room?
Isn't it great? I just love all of their bedding. Take these elegant shams for example. These would actually work on our bed right now...

Mad for Plaid

I've made no apologies for my new obsession with Isaac Mizrahi for Liz Claiborne. If you've yet to fall in love with him, like me, check this out:This just arrived in my inbox...and I think I gave a silent "Hooray!" {Don't want to disturb my co-workers!} I'm so glad plaid is back. I'm not sure how I'm going to work it in to my wardrobe this fall, but when I do, it needs to be really trendy.

Remember, I just turned 30 this year, so I need to make sure I'm using classic pieces in the right way. Dressing appropriately at 30 can be very tricky. A hem line that's too long or a shirt too boxy and I might look 40. (Gasp!) On the other hand, I can't skew too young and rock a plaid mini...or atleast not without leggings.

A few years ago, I remember I would wear traditional Jackie-O inspired dresses to formal events. Think elegant labels like Oscar de la Renta and Kay Unger. It was a great way to dress - I was a sharp, mature 20-something that could pull it off. This dress is a perfect representation of what I'm talking about in style, not price! {It's available at SAKS for a cool $2,500 right now.}

Now that I'm getting older, I feel like I have to follow the trends more closely and choose classic pieces carefully, or I'll look too old. If I were to rock the Oscar dress to a cocktail party, I'm afraid I would look older than I am.

Instead, I would go with something more like this, from Marc Jacobs: Maybe I am over-analyzing this whole age thing, but I just don't want to be called "Ma'am" by the bartender...that's what it's about these days!

I'm loving Rachel Zoe Project right now. I can't believe this is my first season. I know, I know...I must get the previous season(s) on DVD and watch them.

Her show is about to wind down...and it looks like Poor Brad is going to be left behind, while eternal-PMS Taylor gets to go to Paris. Oh wait! On "Scenes from next" Brad somehow ends up in the City of Lights! "BA-nanas!"

Fortunately, tomorrow night is the premier of The Hills and The City. From the previews, this season looks promising.

One of my favorite designers made her debut at New York Fashion Week yesterday. And the reviews for Tory Burch, so far, have been postive. Take for instance, this write-up in the Wall Street Journal. Writer, Elizabeth Holmes summed up Ms. Burch's show with the line: "with her penchant for preppy and love of tribal both well represented."

She was gracious enough to take her Facebook fans along for the ride, posting photos from inside the tent, backstage, even her celebratory champagne lunch after the a.m. show!

So, it's no secret that I am loving me some chevron print these days.

First was the blue dress from Isaac Mizrahi for Liz Claiborne. You remember the one about which I was so undecided in the beginning? {How could I have ever been conflicted about this dress???)

Oh, and who can forget this inspiring image??? The DVF dress...
Well, the chevron fairy has struck again, in a very familiar way. I decided to buy the orange version of the Liz Claiborne dress...I know, I know, I have a problem. But the first step to recovery is admitting it right? At the very least, applaud me for waiting this long to make the purchase! The dress was only $58 and I received an additional 20% off!

In my defense, I took the dress straight to my alterations lady and she's making it a short dress! Does that help my case? I really need it for a tailgate this weekend...it's the tailgate of all tailgates.

Oh, and there is one huge bonus that comes with the decision to shorten this dress! And this is a big bonus, I'm going to salvage all of that extra fabric and make some pillows!

Home Sweet Home?: Part 3

We're baaaaaaaacccckkkk!

Mr. SDP and I spent last week in the British Virgin Islands. We were there because of a unique job opportunity that could move us there...temporarily at least! The BVI is a beautiful place and the people are friendly. We enjoyed our time immensely. What the infrastructure lacks in sophistication, the water of the West Indies makes up for in its countless shades of blue and green.

We now find ourselves at home, returning to work and looking at our current living situation through a different lense. Since our plane touched down {on the return trip}, our senses have been heightened. I'm noticing things about our home, garden, life that I may have overlooked just two weeks ago.

I'm sure this appreciation is long overdue, and a classic case of "you don't know what you've got 'til it's gone," but we are in the midst of making a very important decision.

I am in communications and work for a PR firm, while Mr. SDP is a money manager who has been doing some consulting for retail companies in the last year or so, since the market crashed and all. {He would probably like me to include that he survived the crash and that his company is still in tact.} We are secure, comfortable and enjoy our life in the states very much.

That's not to say that we're too comfortable. There's a side of us that is enamoured with the adventure, even intrigued by the challenges that come with this opportunity.

We will be making a decision in the next week or so...bear with us!

So remember when I asked the question, "Could you live here?" regarding the British Virgin Islands? Well, one week from today, I will begin to answer that question for myself. That's right, Mr. SDP and I are traveling to the BVI to learn more about the business opportunity that's been presented to us and the life there.

We will only be there for three days, four nights, but hopefully we'll get a sense of the island, its people, etc...

So, I saw Genevieve Gorder on HGTV's Design Star a few weeks ago and she was wearing this silk chevron number:
As I stated in this post, I am just loving the chevron pattern right now.

It turns out, the dress is by none other than Diane Von Furstenberg! {Love her!} After a thorough search online and a few phone calls, I have located it in my size! Better yet, it has gone on sale and I will be calling that store when it opens this morning. I have to wait until 10am Central Time!

While I have been a fan of Ben Silver for many years, she introduced me to one Mr. G. Bruce Boyer, a published author and fashion writer for The New York Times and Esquire. He is writing a style guide for BenSilver.com.

I enjoy reading his take on the Scottish knits used to make Ben Silver's sweaters and the 'regal dyestuff' used to color their beautiful gum silk ties.

I love knowing the story behind the clothes...even though I'm not wearing the tie, Mr. SDP is and he too takes pleasure in the fact that there's more there. A history. Tradition. So, thank you Blushing Hostess for the lovely introduction.

The chevron pattern that is!
A Fabric Outlet on Etsy is carrying this fabric and other colors for only $9.25 a yard. That's a really incredible price. I have spent the past hour searching for it by the yard and this is by far the best selection. Apparently Paula Prass, an interior designer, did a fabric line, but it doesn't appear to be active at the moment.

I'm not exactly sure what color to choose, nor do I have any idea what I'm going to sew with this fabric...napkins, table cloth, throw pillows, or curtains, but I'm feeling inspired.

That's how Diane Sawyer described South Carolina's first lady, Jenny Sanford. After reading this feature story about her in Vogue, I have to agree. She is thoughtful and composed. I'm sure there are many who think she's too old-fashioned, to be 'standing by her man' after all that he did and the pain and humiliation that he caused her. But if you really read her words carefully, what you will find is a courageous woman who is finding a way to forgive.

I'm not sure how I would handle myself if in a similar situation, but there is a gracefulness in Jenny Sanford that no one can deny.

Is Tory Burch launching an entertaining line of products??? The other day, a few of these photos were posted to the Tory Burch Facebook page...I've searched for more information regarding a new product line and so far haven't found any such news.
You will notice, however, in the bottom left hand corner it reads, "Stationary courtesy of The Printery." {I must point out that stationery is misspelled. And if you're looking for a way to remember the difference between stationery and stationary, here it is: Stationery with an "e" is a paper product, remember the -er in paper. For the word stationary, think of a riding stationary bike; it's an action, emphasis on the "a".}I found The Printery online and they have beautiful things...maybe Tory will partner with them and produce a signature line? Wouldn't that be lovely? Almost as fabulous as finding one of these lovely invites in your mailbox!

Whirlwind of a weekend!

Remember that feeling after riding the tea cups at Disney as a child?
That's how I feel this morning after our whirlwind trip to New Orleans for game night. Whew - what a ride!

We had a fabulous time and the best part? First class on the way home! We flew standby both ways, and suprisingly enough - getting there and back wasn't a problem. Our group even got to sit together on the way there! On the way back, however, we had to split up...four of us made the first flight, while two had to stay behind. Fortunately for me and Mr. SDP, our seats were in first class.

NOLA was great. The weather, the people, the drinks...fantastic!

There was only one dramatic episode that came at the end of a fabulous meal at Cochon in the Warehouse District. There was a dispute over the bill...no apology from the staff regarding the bottle of wine they charged us that we didn't order...unwillingness to split checks...unbelievably rude manager who apparently spits nails in her free time...you get the idea.

I refuse to let that one little disturbance take away from what was otherwise an amazing trip.

Game Night Takes to the Friendly Skies

I bet you've never had a game night that required carry-on luggage. I can say for certain, that I never have. Until now, that is...

Here's how our game night usually works:

Our group meets on the first or second Friday of the month in one of our homes...we have drinks, heavy hor d'oerves, and usually play Taboo or something similar and then drink some more. There are five couples total, but usually the same four couples show month after month.

Well, there is a commercial pilot in the group and a few months ago mentioned that he'd like to move August game night to another city, courtesy of Airline X (and his buddy passes.) We didn't think we would actually see this game night come to fruition, so imagine my surprise when last week, we receive an email concerning game night, the NOLA-edition.

That's right, we are leaving in less than 24 hours. Destination: New Orleans, Louisiana! I seriously doubt there will be any games played on the trip...just some debauchery, with a splash of milk punch! I love New Orleans and haven't been there yet this year.
So, what to pack? I just looked up the weather and it's going to be hot, but not unbearable. While the high is 92 degrees today, it's only 90 tomorrow, and 86 degrees on Saturday, with scattered thunderstorms possible. Not bad for the middle of hurricane season!

I wish my Stephen Bonanno's would arrive today, so I could break them in on the streets of the French Quarter.

As for where we are staying...we are waiting to book until it's confirmed that all of us can get on the flight! But, we have several options. My vote is for the International House. Could you live here?Mr. SDP and I are seriously considering it. There is an opportunity...a business opportunity in the British Virgin Islands. It's hard to imagine it all working out and actually getting our Visas, but you never know. There may be interviews for both of us! That's right - the business opportunity is a joint venture.

Born and raised in the south, I'm not sure Mrs. SDP can fully grasp what it would like to trade southern drawls for English accents...I think they have English accents there, don't they? Ha! This is going to be fun! I'm going into this whole thing with extremely low expectations and a very 'laissez-faire' attitude.

Of course, Mr. SDP is all about the expectation. For example...before leaving work yesterday, I emailed Mr. SDP and told him I needed to run by Target on the way home.

His reply:

Flipping Out is almost here...

The beloved network, BRAVO, is bringing back Flipping Out for a third season. We are one week away people!
I can't wait to see what Jeff Lewis has in store for us. Have you seen the preview? Hi-larious!

My favorite part is when Jenni Pulos says "Since he can't flip houses right now, Jeff's really making the best of it." And then the next soundbite is Jeff screaming "I'm going to kill myself!"

Cool as a cucumber - Ha! Set the DVR for next Tuesday night!

In other reality TV show news...have you seen Giuliana and Bill Rancic's new show? I've only caught bits and pieces, but I have a feeling it's not the train wreck many expected.
I caught myself smiling as I watched their banter over the outdoor fireplace. Bill wanted a fire and ice theme. Too funny!

So, here we go!

1. I worked as a television reporter for 7 years before making the switch to public relations.

2. While I enjoy what I do, I would love to do something more creative...particularly in fashion.

The President's birthday cake would make Sylvia Weinstock roll over in her grave...that's if she were dead, of course. Instead, her eyes are probably popping out of her head and breaking the lenses in her signature spectacles. I am just so perplexed about this cake! Why on Earth would the cake maker put the #44 on the cake over the most obvious #48??? Yes, I realize Barack Obama is our 44th president, but he is turning 48 years old!

Even Duff and his crew over at Charm City Cakes could produce a more appropriate cake for our President!

As stated in this story, this cake doesn't reflect the stylish Obama that we've come to know! {Excusing the mom jeans he wore to throw out the first pitch at the All-Stars game a few weeks ago of course!}

An open letter to Kristin Davis

Dear Ms. Davis,

You are a great actress. Your character, Charlotte, in Sex & The City is my favorite of all the girls. I also look forward to seeing your new romantic comedy, Couples Retreat, which will be in theatres October 9th.

But dear, sweet Kristin, we must talk about your line of shoes. Believe me, I was thrilled to see your clothing line in stores last Fall. I have several pieces. It's just the shoes that cause me so much pain...literally.

Don't get me wrong. They're pretty shoes; just something in the way they're made causes my feet to hate me.

Take for example these platform gladiators by Kristin Davis:

I purchased these lovelies on Saturday to wear to a wedding that night. While they made the outfit and were the beneficiary of numerous compliments, my poor feet! I had to hobble to the car by night's end, only to ice them down when I got home!

No amount of alcohol could numb the pain...believe me I tried, between the cosmos and the half dozen champagne cocktails consumed through out the night! Whew!

Maybe I should have opted for these Christian Louboutin's? With the $1,145 price tag, I think I might have to pass and pay my mortgate instead. You understand.

So, Ms. Davis, thank you for your attempt at bringing affordable fashions, similar to those found in your closet and on the set of Sex & The City, but politely I must say, "No thank you."

It leaves me wondering (in my best Carrie Bradshaw-inspired ponder) "Is it better to go without Christian Louboutins than be tortured by the affordable knock-off?"

In the SDP household, we have a new washer and dryer. What we need now is to create a designed space in which to do laundry. Maybe it will make this chore, something I avoid at all costs, more enjoyable. Who knows? It might even be (gasp!) fun!

What to wear?

Mr. SDP and I have been invited to a pre-wedding celebration for some friends who are getting married tomorrow. {The wedding rehearsal and rehearsal dinner were held last night...since we're not in the wedding and we're in-town guests, we were not involved.}

Tonight's celebration - I'm guessing - will include all wedding guests. I love this idea, don't you? I think the bride and groom will enjoy being with their guests two nights in a row.

Anyway, the invitation looks like this:

The theme is a "bluegrass supper" and I expect there will be bluegrass music and southern cuisine. So, what to wear???

Here are a few options from my closet...

I wore this dress to my best friend's bridesmaid luncheon - it has a very Tory Burch feel to it with the color scheme and pattern. I don't think it's the most figure flattering dress I've ever worn, but I received a lot of compliments on it.

Secondly, there's this Fumblin' Foe dress...it doesn't really scream southern, bluegrass, or anything like that, but it's really cute. I've only worn it once and it was to the Caty's rehearsal dinner a few weeks ago. {I wear it sans belt!}I'm probably most leaning towards this dress, from Liz Claiborne, that I wore to the Summer Soiree earlier in the month. I think it is the most stunning and with August upon us, there probably aren't many more opportunities to wear it. One important thing to note about all of these options is the fact that tonight's crowd is totally different from any of the crowds where I've worn the other dresses. (Women know how important this is!!!)

I just love that quote! It's what I repeat to myself when shopping. I didn't need to recite said mantra yesterday when our new Forever 21 opened up! I was able to shop my heart out without any guilt!

Here are just a few things that found their way into my bright little yellow bag!

This owl ring for just under $6!!!
This white stone necklace for less than $14!!! (It looks much better against tan skin, than the white background in the photograph...very J.Crew-esque.)

And finally, this ribbon beaded neclace for less than $7!!! I'm wearing it today with a black and white striped boatneck tee with three quarter-length sleeves. I feel somewhat like a gondalier, especially because I'm wearing little red patent leather flats with black pants, but I'm working it! I twisted the bow around to the top right. Who knew $7 could bring an outfit together???

...like Michael Jackson needs a final resting place. My feet are still sore from the wedding festivities that took place last weekend. Everything went very well; the weather was gorgeous! My bridesmaid dress was altered to perfection, but the shoes! Actually, I can't blame the shoes...

They're very well-made Ralph Lauren 3'' heels - it was just all of that standing and kneeling, standing and kneeling that I had to do during the Catholic ceremony. The floor was a beautiful marble, but not all that forgiving, if you know what I mean.

I did keep my high heels on through my toast at the wedding reception, before quietly slipping on my much lower sandals. Several other bridesmaids did the same thing, so I didn't feel so guilty.

All in all, the wedding was a stunning event! And yes, I had to give a toast at the reception as the matron of honor. That was a first for me. I've always given toasts at the rehearsal dinner. In fact, I'm somewhat known for them. I still gave a toast at the rehearsal, but it was more personal. At the reception, I kept it short and succinct, recited a little George Eliot, but it was heartfelt. If you have to do a toast, I highly recommend this book...

I am loving these new flowers I found at our local Fresh Market. They are just so intricate! There's so much depth there. The pink isn't coming through on this photo taken on my camera phone...

There were plenty of white ones left over to place in smaller vases in the guest bathroom and bedroom. Here's a view from above:

The flower is a matsumoto aster. I did some research and they are available June through September. The vase life is 5 - 10 days. They're also available in purple, violet, yellow, red, rose, and orange.

Oh, and the vase! Kate Spade for Lenox. It was a wedding gift from my parents' best friends. We didn't register for it, but it's been one of our most used gifts, right along with the everyday china!

4-Day Work Week

I just realized that this will the fourth week in a row that I've had a 4-day work week. I have to say, it's been pretty nice.

There was Austin, and then 4th of July; I worked from home one day last week, which technically counts as a work day because I was in fact working, but at least I was in my pajamas. Then I'm off on Friday because of the big wedding this weekend.

Not bad!

I wonder if I could swing this all of the time!

I can't believe I was ever undecided about this dress:

I bought it on Friday after work and wore it less than 24 hours later. It was perfect!!! I added a wide gold leather weave belt and wore gold wedges. The belt really completed the look.

The party was a Summer Soiree on a rooftop pool. It was a great backdrop for this dress and complimented the decor. (Leave it to me to match the party! I planned it, so that's okay, right?)

Now only if this margarita headache would go away...

What do you think of this dress? I can't seem to make up my mind. I've tried it on and it's flattering. It really is. What I'm concerned with is the fact that it's "a whole lotta look" if you know what I mean.

Would you believe it's Liz Claiborne? I know, I know, it's not the same Liz Claiborne you've come to know and despise over the years. It's a new LC. An LC that's received some TLC from none other than Isaac Mizrahi.

I think Isaac is doing a fantastic job at his new gig. {It doesn't seem to be helping the stock price any...check out this dismal report.}

Maybe I should buy the dress since it would help the economy. Yeah, that's it. It's the right thing to do for the economy...

Oh, and if your nose is still turned up at Liz Claiborne, what if I told you that LC owns Kate Spade. That's right! Our dear Kate sold her company to Liz back in 2006 for a cool $125 million.

Sephora gets me

June was a busy month...we had our week at the beach, Highballs and Hydrangeas, and last but not least, a girls weekend in Austin!

It's understandable then, why I couldn't make it to Sephora to receive my birthday present, right? The girl at the Sephora agreed. Nine days into July, she wished me a happy belated birthday and slipped a 3-pack of Sephora's summer lip glosses. Gotta love that!

I was there to purchase some new NARS eye shadow. {Kalahari and Alhambra} I highly recommend!!!

MOB Meltdown

One week from tomorrow, the wedding festivities for my dear friend Caty will begin!

As the MOH, I'm finishing up last little details. Oh, you know - putting photos together to display at the rehearsal dinner, preparing the itineraries for the bridesmaids, and booking the organist and cantor. That's right. Our dear Caty didn't have an organist or cantor booked to play her traditional Catholic wedding mass.

When the MOB found out about this on Monday, she had a meltdown. MOH to the rescue! There was enough finger-pointing going on; I just had to step in. Caty had booked (and by booked I mean: asked her wedding planner to do it) a string quartet and she thought that was sufficient. She's not the one who works for the Catholic church. That's the MOB, hence the meltdown. In her defense, she lives several states away so she's not in the loop 100%.

It's all good. I was able to get the musical director at the church in touch with the MOB and they worked it out. PHEW! Crisis averted.

By the way, if she makes me wear a shirt like the one in the photo above, I'll have a meltdown!

I worked from home today which means I caught a rare episode of Oprah. It was a look inside Buckingham Palace, behind the scenes at American Idol and last but certainly not least, an interview with Valentino himself about his documentary.

I must see this!!! For the trailer will hold me over...but from all accounts, it is a must-see.

Remember the GAP commercials from the late 90's? I started thinking about those commercials tonight while watching So You Think You Can Dance. In my opinion, they were little pieces of art dropped in between Seinfeld and Ally McBeal. Take for instance, the one to the tune of "Dress You Up In My Love".

A fellow blogger just posted other memorable ones...can't tell if he/she likes them as much as me!

There was one commercial that used the song "Baby Give It Up." Haven't located that one just yet...if GAP had a suggestion box, I would suggest they have their own YouTube channel and have an archive of these commercials!

I received a wonderful birthday present from wonderful friends a few weeks back: a gift certificate for my own customized pair of Stephen Bonanno Sandals. I'm thrilled! I've always loved these adorable shoes, but never had a pair for myself! (Hard to believe, having grown up in Florida! I know!)

I've yet to place the order because I'm having trouble deciding what color combination to choose...there are so many!

Do I play it safe and do something like this? Definitely practical, but I might regret not going for something more fun!

I could wear this next pair with a lot of things, but I already have several pairs of gold flip flops and silver slides. These would of course put any other shoe to shame!
Hmmmm...not sure what I should do! For whatever reason, I'm feeling the color yellow right now. Can you picture it...bright yellow, white stiching on tan feet???

That's right. I'm adding this little ditty to my vocabulary. This, after seeing the oh-so-hilarious Hardee's commercial for their new biscuit holes.

Have you seen it? Coke almost came spewing out of my mouth when I first saw the spot. Apparently, the fast food chain is tapping into my inner middle schooler.

The commercial starts of with a string of soundbites from different people on the street...your average grandma or blue-collar man on the steps of Mall of America have just tried these new sweet treats from Hardees and have been asked to come up with a name for them.

"Iced holes"
"B-holes"
"Bisticles"
"Joy balls"
"Frosty nuts
"Bis-nuts"
"Mouth full of balls" {my personal favorite}

It reminds me of the Saturday Night Live skit from years ago, when Alec Baldwin's character, Mr. Schweddy was a guest on NPR's Delicious Dish peddling what else? Other than his Schweddy balls.

Austin Bound

So, I'm off to the Lonestar state tomorrow for my dear friend's bachelorette party. I'm the MOH {matron of honor} so I've planned this little shindig, even though I've never actually been to Austin. Facebook has been a great resource for recommendations, by the way. People I haven't seen or heard from in years were weighing in!

Our itinerary includes a stop at Ranch 616 for dinner and live music on Thursday night. We're "floating the river" on Friday. Coincidentally, there was a great write-up on this Texas tradition in this month's Southern Living. The bride has requested a stop at the Hula Hut on Friday night before hitting the honky tonks of 4th and 6th avenues.

We're having a honeymoon shower on Saturday. I elected for brunch at Old Pecan Street Cafe, which I hear is really great, especially for special occasions like this. I'm so excited about my gift for the bride. I have personalized a beach bag with her new monogram and included two beach towels {stiched with "Mr." on one and "Mrs." on the other.} Take a look!

I've also sewn a matching draw string pouch to go inside of the beach bag which will hold items that she'd rather not get in the sand. (I took these photos with my phone, so they're not the highest quality...)I'm really pleased with how this all turned out! It was somewhat of a last minute idea, but well executed if I do say so myself!

I'm probably most excited about the CDs I've made as party favors...I've included 17 songs about Texas and thanks to Scrapblog, I was able to design the artwork.

I'll have to post the song list later.

Mr. SDP gifted me the loviest bracelet for my 30th birthday. It's like the one pictured above, except of course with my initial. Didn't he do such a good job??? The bracelet is a piece from John Wind by Maximal Art's vintage preppy collection. I just love it!

Highballs, Hydrangeas & Hangovers

That should have been the name of my 30th birthday bash. Maybe that would have better prepared the party-goers...of course, there would have been a run on Advil at the local Walgreens. {Weren't the hydrangeas just divine?}

It was a fabulous night, with the exception of the early evening rain shower. It started right in the middle of our game of croquet! That's too bad because I was in second to last place and I surely would have made a comeback!

While the rain did produce a beautiful rainbow, it sent half of the guests scurrying indoors. The other half gathered around the "sweet tea" dispenser in the tent! No worries sug, we were juuuuuuuuust fine.

We filled our highballs with a mixture of Firefly's sweet tea vodka and water. The vodka tastes so much like the real thing, I was worried some of the pregnant guests were going to mistakenly serve themselves a glass! {There was lemonade on the side for those who needed to cut it even further.}

Our acrylic drink dispenser from Pottery Barn worked overtime at H&H! Can you believe it held 3 handles of Firefly and 1.5 handles of water??? Pretty unbelievalbe! I highly recommend this container!!! {The large clear one.}
