Oh My Mogg!

Are you reading Moggit???  If not, you need to start.  These hilarious and snarky bloggers are to interior design what Go Fug Yourself is to celebrity fashion. 

And these girls are making waves!  They recently tweeted Nate Berkus, product of Oprah, you know the one.   Well, he's about to have his own television show, as I'm sure you read here and here.  The girls at the Mogg Blog told him he should do a show about interior design blogs!  He responded and the show is now in the works!  HUGE, right???

Blogs everywhere are talking about Nate and the show, all because of Moggit!  Mrs. Limestone has a long list of bloggers who are taking part in what is being dubbed as "Nate Day!"

His show premiers in September.  Can't wait!

If Tory Burch and Lilly Pulitzer procreated...

Okay, I realize that's impossible, but if they were to come together and beget some type of offspring, who would it be?

I think her name would be Tracy Negoshian. 

She's a beginner, but I see some potential.  All of her tunics and dresses have a small credit card size pocket hidden on the right side, usually tucked under the arm at the rib cage - just perfect for a credit card, ID and maybe a lip gloss.

As she grows, hopefully her fabrics will improve and she will drop the ridiculous jewelry line.  (It's like a chintzy version of Franchesca's.)  I've got to give it to this girl - she started out with obvious color combinations that she knew would sell:  SEC football teams. 

Go to any SEC tailgate, I don't care if you're outside of the O'Connell Center in Gainesville, on top of G10 in Knoxville, or in the Grove in Oxford, you will hear one universal complaint from fashionable football fans:  Finding stylish clothes in a girl's favorite SEC team colors is more difficult than getting Mariah Carey zipped into a black mini dress!  Except of course for the Georgia Dawgs, those bitches I mean sweet Georgia peaches rock red and black like it's their job.

Happy Shopping!  Oh, and I almost forgot - the aqua and coral Rachel dress will be making an appearance on the SDP Christmas card this year.  What is more BVI than that?

I'm loving Rachel Zoe Project right now. I can't believe this is my first season. I know, I know...I must get the previous season(s) on DVD and watch them.

Her show is about to wind down...and it looks like Poor Brad is going to be left behind, while eternal-PMS Taylor gets to go to Paris. Oh wait! On "Scenes from next" Brad somehow ends up in the City of Lights! "BA-nanas!"

Fortunately, tomorrow night is the premier of The Hills and The City. From the previews, this season looks promising.

I heart chevron: PART 2

So, I saw Genevieve Gorder on HGTV's Design Star a few weeks ago and she was wearing this silk chevron number:
As I stated in this post, I am just loving the chevron pattern right now.

It turns out, the dress is by none other than Diane Von Furstenberg! {Love her!} After a thorough search online and a few phone calls, I have located it in my size! Better yet, it has gone on sale and I will be calling that store when it opens this morning. I have to wait until 10am Central Time!
I am just in love with it!!! Aren't you?

A Must See

Am I the last one who hasn't seen "Valentino: The Last Emporer"?

I worked from home today which means I caught a rare episode of Oprah. It was a look inside Buckingham Palace, behind the scenes at American Idol and last but certainly not least, an interview with Valentino himself about his documentary.

I must see this!!! For the trailer will hold me over...but from all accounts, it is a must-see.

Making the most of it!

One of my monthly reads is InStyle. I find their online presence leaves much to be desired, but the magazine, itself, I like. Since I can't hyperlink you to the magazine as it sits on my coffee table at home, this will have to do. I'm a big believer in making the most of what you've got and thoroughly enjoyed InStyle's top ten list on the subject. {Mrs. O provides the context.} Some highlights are:

I love this one. Each season I try and find a few things that reappear week after week, whether it be a big ring, sleek belt, sophisticated scarf. There are some good ones still in my accessories drawer that haven't been given the "signature" designation yet...like the Burberry silk scarf that Mr. SDP gave me for our first Christmas together.

And #1 Play up your assets!

This is a tough one for me...there are so many looks that I just adore that I simply cannot pull off. No complaints; still trying to make the most of what I've got...it's just that sometimes I think I've got too much! Ha!

FOLO: Not All Compliments Are Equal

I can't make this stuff up!!! This is an excerpt from a conversation that I just had with one certain person (CP) at the office today:

CP: "Wow. What a great outfit! That pop of color with the black and grey and white! It looks awesome!"

{I reply through gritted teeth:}
SDP: "Thaaaaaaanks."

CP: "That's what I need to do. What is that a cardigan? Look at my outfit. Boooooooring. You're my fashion idol girl."

{Filled with guilt, I respond.}
SDP: "Awwwwww...thaaaaaaaanks."

I'm horrible. She idolizes me? Really?

I'm still having a tough time accepting the compliments from CP, but my compassion for CP is kicking in. Maybe I need to take her on as a little pet project...she'll star in our own version of What Not To Wear. Stacy? Clinton? Help!

Oh, and if you're wondering what outfit ellicted such a response: I paired a black cashemere shell from Banana with the python print pencil skirt, as seen in Vogue {March issue}. My shoes are black patent peeptoe wedges from Alfani. And that pop of color CP so craves? A pepto bismol pink cardigan. Oh and I can't forget the opera length potato pearls, doubled-up of course!

Not All Compliments Are Equal

Compliments are nice, right? If we all agree, then why do I not enjoy them when coming from one certain person? Certain person (CP) = person with horrible fashion sense. Here's how the scenario inevitably plays out:

I'm wearing this great outfit...I'm feeling good...walking taller...smiling a bit wider...talking to the security guard at my building...you know how it is...

Then, I step off of the elevator and into the office and one CP says, "Wow! Great outfit. Look at us both rocking the color purple. I guess we both got the memo."

My teeth start to grind as I flash a fake smile. It's one thing to compliment my outfit; it's another to compare my outfit to your Kim Rogers get-up. Is that awful???

Feeling Inspired

I'm an avid watcher of this obscure morning television program. It's so informative, yet entertaining; not sure why it hasn't caught on yet...I think it's called The Today Show or something like that. If you've not heard of it, you should look it up...

Anyway, in the midst of real coverage of the President's travels abroad last week, TTS featured a new blog that tracks the First Lady's every fashion-forward step. It's appropriately titled, Mrs. O. {Would I love to see the Google Analytics report for the day it received the mention or what??? Maybe that will be the follow-up story. Get on it Meredith!}
When it comes to my own wardrobe, I find this chronicle of "what" and "who" Mrs. O is wearing to be very inspirational. She's chic and more importantly, she's accessible. It was a tough choice, but my favorite outfit from the trip abroad is this: {I just can't resist a good bow.}

According to Mrs. O, she was visiting St. Vitus Cathedral in Prague when she wore the oversize bow blouse by Moschino, a Michael Kors black pencil skirt and her signature Azzedine Alaia belt. {Definitely have some belt envy...} The bow blouse, the focal point of the ensemble, is from Moschino’s Spring 2009 collection, seen here.
